If you take a look at some advanced stats (EvolvingHockey), NYRs "Kids" had a coming out party in the playoffs. Chytil, Kakko, and Laf ranked at 1, 2, and 3, respectively in SF%. Same goes for FF%, CF%, and Chytil and Kakko at 1 and 2 with Laf at 4 for xGF%. If you look at these advanced stats relative to their teammates, the "Kids" were still 1, 2, and 3 in shots, fenwick and corsi relative to their NYR teammates. It's time for Drury and Gallant to give them full confidence. No trading away young prospects and draft picks for rentals like JT Miller or Sean Monahan. Play the kid line in the top 6 and save cap to keep this core together. If an opportunity for a really (and I mean like sub 4M AAV) cheap center comes along to add depth, I'm all for it. But NYRs front office and Gallant cannot stunt these kids' growth. They proved they can go into the deep end.
