That (VJx2)+FZ line could be nasty if FZ and the younger VJ have good chemistry with the higher-paid JV.

Also, that LD corps is tough now, it may have sucked before but now the only guy in there that I'd trust to play top 4 minutes is Staal. Oesterle and Walman could possibly both try 2nd pairing duty, but every member of that group is playing above their pay grade lol

In regards to the LD situation, yes we are F’d. I have honestly not been impressed by Juolevi but hey I’m no pro scout so maybe he finds some success as this season finishes out. Not even sure how it gets any better next year unless Edvinsson has a Calder esque season.

If Edvinsson can even just be a decent partner for Hronek/Seider, I'd say that's a big win for our LD next season. Having another prospect like Johansson or McIsaac step up and take another spot (and look decent doing it) would be amazing. Honestly, anything is an upgrade at 1LD over DDK/Oesterle. My dream LD corps would be Edvinsson-Johansson-Staal, with Edvinsson and Johansson both providing top 4 value.

It's a big offseason for Yzerman, he has the choice to either let the kids free or sign a free agent to fill that 1LD spot. It's obvious that he would prefer a veteran in that spot, but it'll be a tough decision nonetheless considering how many prospects are pushing for a look in the big leagues
