Expansion draft has Enstrom Waive his NMC and WPG protects Trouba, Buff, Myers, Wheeler, Scheif, Perrault Little, Lowry, Armia, Copp, Helley
Exposed: Enstrom, Dano, Mathias, Hutchinson, Stuart, With Dano being selected.
After expansion, the Jets trade a D prospect, and underutilized Petan, and a pick for Chris Tanev who's an underrated shutdown defenceman to play with Buff. Tanev would have to waive his NTC (assuming WPG is on it even) but he would because he was the one who convinced his brother to come play here and likes the organization. Also gives him a chance to compete sooner as WPG will be in the playoffs next year (guarenteed)
WPG finally gets a proven starting Goalie. Bishop is signed on July 2nd-3rd for 6M but for only 2 years. With the goalie market being rich with starting talent because of the expansion draft, and the off year Bishop had instead of taking less money offered by other teams he takes the show me contract for 2 years which pays more. Makes sense for both him and the Jets as they'll have big CAP problems in 2 years when Laine Connor, etc start needing big money deals and considering after this year, Ehlers, Trouba, and Morrisey will also need big raises.
There is no way you're getting Bishop - in Winnipeg - for a 6M 2 year contract.
I don't see Bishop getting anywhere near what he's truely worth next year because A) the year he had, B) the saturation of the market.
He was 18-15-5 with TB and LA combined, with a .903 SV% and 2.52 GAA (by my calculations).
Darling, Fluery, Niemi, Lehtonen, Condon, Elliot, Miller, Bernier, Mason, Johnson, Nilsson, Kinkaid, all could be had (only Fleury, Lehtonen and Niemi need to be traded for the rest are UFA).
Bishop will be LUCKY to get over 5.5 so I feel the Jets are overpaying on this front.
Veteran goalies who go from a good team, Tampa, and sign with a out of playoff team often don't live up to their previous play. I would stick with young veteran who go grow with the team. Darling might best for Jets and Darling too. You could sweeten the offer to Canucks by making the trade before the draft, and don't protect Myers. He probably won't be taken by Las Vegas and if was selected he was look at the situation as cap relief and sign another defenceman, maybe hometown Stone.

Stone isn't that good unfortunately and Myers would absolutely be selected over say Mathias or Copp. He'd instantly be their #1 or for sure #2 RHD. The cap hit won't matter to vegas and hell, they could just trade Myers to a team dying for RHD for more picks.
"The cap hit won't matter to vegas and hell, they could just trade Myers to a team dying for RHD for more picks." scarecrow how can even think that . if las vegas was to take every teams cap dump at 5m a year they will have a 150m cap. and myers isn't going to to a team without money going back to jets. (or las vegas). he ain't 5.5m value at all
