Kane will be dealt once teams feel he is NHL ready again, with retention I promise there is a team that thinks they can rebuild his image and utilize him to get to a cup. There is a lot contending teams will tolerate if they think it will help them win a cup. At the end of the day 30 goal scoring power forwards are really hard to come by, Especially if you can capitalize on one with some issues that comes in at 2-2.5 mil a season.
This one is going to get a lot of hate but at the end of the day Robins is one of our few expendable top prospects. With Bordeleau our future 3C/2C and Weisblatt and Coe looking to be our future 2RW and 3RW sooner than later, Robins would have to beat these 3 out for time in the top 9, and he's too small to play on the 4th line. and Toffoli helps us now and in the future.
the line of Nieto Bonino and Cogliano are clicking but I see them as a really good 4th line, not a 3rd line
Tierney has been mentioned in a few NHL rumor boards and on here, a 3rd might be enough to get him back and I remember a little chemistry with him and Labanc, add Balcers who did play a little in Ottawa and this line should have some chemistry and be serviceable for a 3rd line. Note. just found out Labanc is out 3 months with a shoulder injury. but could be back for playoffs.
The 22 draft is deep so I’m trying to avoid giving up this years 1st but with 23 being a more shallow draft (good talent in the top part but thins out after) I feel it’s a safer pick to let go.
Weatherby has been decent but since his first 15 games he has kind of disappeared and I think he could use a little more time in the AHL to hone his game for next season.
we should have been in on him before he went to Montreal, if Montreal sells he is an Ideal option to pair on our top 6 and we NEED a RW with a RH shot. Robins is a lot to give up but with Bordeleau looking great in college and most likely signing his ELC soon Robins was going to have a hard time breaking into our lineup.

Arizona gets Kane 50% retained then flips him to another team 1-1.5 mil retained. i dont see how a team like Carolina Tampa of Florida dont take a chance on a 30 goal scoring power forward for 2-2.5 a season, and Kane should be humble for at least a year or 2 and those teams are looking to compete for a cup now!
Yes I totally agree with this but the Toffoli trade is pretty lobsided.
yea I cant argue the Toffoli one might not be the most logical but if were trying to sneak into the playoffs this year it would be a smart move.
but as I said before I hope we end up sellers at the deadline and move all the older players we can for picks and Hertl for the biggest deal we can get and go full rebuild mode.
I just like what Toffoli brings and we BADLY need a RW RHS top 6 guy now and for the next 3-4 years before guys like Coe, Robins, Weisblatt and Reedy can get a chance to prove they belong in that roll.
I hate trading picks and prospects for older players but Toffoli deal is + for a player of his caliber so a 1st and prospect would be warranted.
this is one of those deals that might end up looking bad in the long term, but if we draft in the 16-20 area I don't think we get a player of Toffoli caliber.
I'm happy to trade picks depening on whereif we get players that are for "now and the future" as doug always says like a Adin Hill but over the next 2 draft years its best to keep our picks because we will most likely still be bad/mediocre then get over the hump after those 2 years.

can’t argue that, but if we’re close and need some offense to get over the hump and into the playoffs Toffoli would be valuable to us for 4-5 years. and if we’re not going for the playoffs Hertl Burns Bonino Cogliano Kane and simek all should be dealt for as much as we can get and retention on every deal to make us more if possible.
