Gardiner and Dermott won't get you trouba. Also the JVR trade doesn't make much sense to be. He needs to be move a deal for a D man that can help now not 4 or 5 years down the road. Why wouldn't you resign Zaitsev?

Gardiner and Dermott is overpay for Trouba. Gardiner is an established top 4 defenceman and adding in one of our best defensive prospects to boot, all for just another top 4 defenceman who did not even want to sign with a Canadian team in the first place. No point in giving away two defence for one when we are trying to add defence. Highly doubt Leafs management would even consider this.

That JVR trade makes no sense IMO
