2017 Trade Deadline and 2017-18 Roster:
The trade with Edmonton gives the Oilers players to help them win this year and in the near future should they choose to sign them. The Florida trade is the same story. The goal in mind is to acquire young forwards to build secondary scoring. With that in mind, I suggest one key trade that I think is being overlooked... the fact that Valeri Nichushkin's rights are held by Dallas. Dallas needs young goalie depth for their future, and it's uncertain whether Nichushkin will play in Dallas again. With the Flyers goalie depth, take the chance. A trade might be Felix Sandstrom, Jordan Weal, 2nd rd pick for Nichushkin. Low risk move for Flyers and Dallas keeps their current roster intact. Sign Mason prior to the draft to solidify a #1 goalie (but protect Stolarz in expansion). Hextall said he may resign Streit in the offseason as a stop-gap and to mentor the young defensemen. Sign the necessary depth pieces and this is what the team could like next year and in the future.
