Signings:
Pelech: $6x7: Gets the Brodin contract, both are strong shutdown D-men
Beau: $5x5: 400k less than bjorkstrand got on his recent deal, same term
Sorokin: $3x2: Gets Nedeljkovic deal as he transitions to starter
palmieri: $4.5x3: shorter term, pretty cheap deal, as he's coming off a poor regular season
Zajac: $750k for one year. I want Cizikas back, but his asking price of $5 mil is just too much and isn't worth it for a 4th liner for the term he wants. A cheap one year deal for a Bozak/Glendening/Nash/Richardson is also an option.
McCabe: $3.5x2: strong analytically, but coming off injury. Takes shorter term to prove he's healthy enough to play 82 games, when his contract expires, Bolduc/Salo should be NHL ready
Parise: 750k: Lou connection, takes cheap deal to chase a cup
Goligoski: $3.5x1: Isles have interest, could be good partner for mayfield
Would like to get a landeskog/tarasenko, but this team was one win away from the cup finals, with Lee replacing Komarov, Palms for Ebs, McCabe/Goligoski replacing Leddy/Greene, and continued development from Wahlstrom/Dobson.
This gives added time for Bolduc and Salo to develop in the AHL, and leaves us some cap to resign Pulock/Dobson next year, and Barzy/wahlstrom/sorokin the year after that.
This seems like a Lou type of armchair GM: resigning vets, getting serviceable yet unexciting free agents to add to an already elite team.
