EXPLANATIONS:
Eichel: Could easily be two 1sts instead of a first, second and third. In terms of the players I'm giving up, Romanov, who we know is an established dman and has the very well potential to be a top 4 defensemen, maybe even top 2 (especially in Buffalo, where he'd be playing more). Along with this, there's Jordan Harris, someone who the Habs are really high on and could easily be in the league by next year. Poehling also still has insane potential and I just don't see him playing in Mtl in a substantial role. With Reinhart (and now Eichel) gone, Poehling would for sure get the ice time he needs to develop. Could become a 3rd/2nd liner if he plays up to his potential. Just breaking it down using potentials I feel like each player is this is how the trade would be
TO MTL:
Jack Eichel: 1st Liner, Franchise potential
TO BUF:
Alex Romanov: Top Pairing/3rd dman
Jordan Harris: 4th/5th dman
Ryan Poehling: Low 2nd liner, high 3rd
1st rounder (mid, high 20's)
2nd (Late 2nd)
3rd (Early 3rd)
Or it would be two 1sts, which both im guessing are late in the round
Let me know what you think!
The fact that multiple teams are kicking tires and he signed for 5 years negates that
I don't actually see the Habs acquiring Eichel, mostly because of next summer it's Suzuki and Romanov paycheck, but we know that Bergevin is being interested.
On a 10m contract on a flat cap (not Buffalo error for a rare time), it's kinda hard to trade him because not a lot of teams have that cap.
Keep dreaming about an excellent return, hoping you will not being disapointed like I'm sure would happened if Eichel is dealt and it's a return like this. (2022 draft picks are really important due to the strong prospect class, don't sleep on that)
I dont think MTL does it, im just saying MTL cant put a decent package together without Suzuki.
Or caufield, I can guarantee that Buffalo wants both, and picks, probably Romanov too. There is no reason why a team should give into that unless it's a 100% healthy Eichel. A lot of teams have inquired and as we all can see he hasn't been moved.
