they need help at the blueline
they need assests (prospects) so they can do side deals with other teams to take bad contract without hurting they're prospect pool
they need a retool

They need help on the right side of D, which was not given in this package, this team is just coming out of a rebuild they will get another a prospect to add to an amazing core, van core is fine they just need to get better depth peices, example the Dickinson trade today, if Van get a Larsson type of Dman this team will be alot better then people think

i'd agree,. but the other major vancouver problem is they have a lot of awfull contract that they need to remoove to get the players they need. It kinda sucks for them to loose a great player, but if with that passests you manage them to remove some awfull contract you could have the potential of getting better with searching the pieces you need (exept if bennings goes berserk and sing a 4rth liner 4m)

The issue Is Van's bad contracts are coming off the books next year they have 21 mill this summer 15 of it will got to Hughes and Pettersson that still gives them 6 mill to fill out the roster and this is pre expansion good chance Virtanen is either bought out or terminated so another 2mil in cap space right there

And Petersson and Hugues contract are up... now

if both asked for about 15 m, they have no money for the rest of the team

Dickinson will make at most 2 mil 4 mil to level out the rest of the roster jouilevi will be in the ahl same with hawrluck remember this pre expansion and buy outs they will be just fine

yeah they can buy outs, but it will cost long term, and if we says that dickinson gets 3 m , you'll have 3m to filles 2 d, one or two fowards and the league minimum is 750k, and i doubt that the players will want that (especially the D, the NEED a top 4 D right now)

Dickinson doesn't get 3 mill is the issue lol we arent in bad cap trouble some moves to get around it if hoblty gets taken by seatlle that pretty much solves the cap issue this year, worse case scenario they have one more down year, and load up next year but they are going to be aggressive, there isnt a reason for van to do this trade especially for cap reasons
