First I wanna address the Arvy trade. Yeah it wasn't pretty and maybe the value could have been better, but in a flat cap world its not terrible. It signals that Poile is willing to move on from the core that has been chasing the cup and tweak it. I don't think Forsberg is going to request a trade or anything like that. Yeah he's upset about Arvy, but he's a professional and I think he puts his feelings aside. That's not to say I don't think Nash won't trade him, but it would have to be an overpay or he states won't resign in Nash.
If I was Poile, I would stick to the trend of moving guys who could be on a decline because of injuries. Ellis is a stud defenseman and I don't know if his value is ever gonna be higher. I picked Philly as the trade partner because they've been rumored to be after Seth Jones, but unwilling to deal without an extension. I think Jones ends up in Chicago and Philly then looks to bring in a RD with term. Ellis could slot in with Provorov and give them a legit top D pairing. I don't know if Foerster is the right prospect for this, but I think some combination of a D prospect, F prospect, and 1st Rd pick get it done. I don't know which has more value to Philly, their 1st this year or next, but any return for Ellis should include a 1st Rd pick.
Dealing with Seattle I know Poile is trying to solidify who they select. I don't know if this is to dump Joey or Duchene, but if I'm Poile I wouldn't deal any serious pieces to be sure of who Seattle selects. I think sending a prospect like Davies to insure they pick someone other than Johansen, Duchene, Jarnkrok, or Sissons would be the goal. I'm not sure where the Ellis trade ends up on the timeline between expansion and entry draft, but I'd say Ellis has more value after the expansion draft if the trade is for nothing but futures.
I don't know if this lineup makes the playoffs over an 82 game season. But with some of the spark we saw late last year, if some of the young guys can take a step forward I think they can surprise some people.
I like the 9-92-95 line we saw in the playoffs and I'd like to see more of that next season.
19-64-11 was solid all year. Another year together and they could be even better
The third line is a bunch of young guns that'd I like to see getting some reps together, I don't have a super good reason it just felt right.
HERD line stays together
As far as the defense goes, I would like to see Allard fighting Benning for playing time, but Fabbro and Carrier need to see the big minutes. I would like to see Farrance start in the NHL vs. conditioning in the AHL. He has the toolset to succeed right away in the right environment.
I think a veteran goalie is the best choice to back up Saros, I think Koskinen would be a good option, but not for any significant pieces. Maybe there's some trade where Nashville brings in Neal and Koskinen with a couple of futures in return for Cousins or someone else. Not sure. But if nothing else Nashville has options in free agency. If its not Bernier, Reimer or Driedger could be good options, but Driedger may be too expensive.
This gives Nashville a lot of cap to play with which we should utilize if teams are looking to move contracts. It also has us picking 4 times in the top 50 picks in a draft where talent is sure to slide.
13OA, 18OA,39OA, and 50OA.
Philly would need some salary going back if it's before expansion if not then it would really be dependent on who is selected but overall I think philly would be happy to do this
