Description
Sabres try to dump Bogosian and his contract to the Oilers. Take what they'll give ya. Gorges could be a good option for STL on the bottom pairing after losing shattenkirk, and I'd absolutely take a 4th for him. Girgensons for Manson seems like a good trade. Ducks get young forward with potential and BUF gets a solid defensemen who could slide in with McCabe on the second pairing. Baptiste will help the Wings get younger, while Helm will help with the lack of speed the Sabres have. Not to mention, he'll help fix the center depth since Girgensons was traded. Sabres can let their young offense mature, while looking to FA for a top defensemen and goalie. Alzner would be a great addition to pair with Risto, letting Risto creep up into the play more than he does now. Risto will be much more comfortable with a partner like Alzner that he can rely on. And it may be time to make a goalie change. While Lehner could get another prove it year, I find it hard to pass up Ben Bishop on the FA market. Add him a you get consistent play from your starting goalie, something that the Sabres have lacked in recent years. Resign Nilsson to continue his backup duties in buffalo, and the Sabres are looking at the year where they finally take the next step.

As a wings fan I say yes. I'm a big fan of baptiste and think he'll be a solid middle 6 most likely third line right winger. He plays a similar game to okposo which could really benefit us. I honestly don't see the other trades going through for you

I think the trade with DET helps the Wings get younger while it helps the Sabres add some speed that they are realllyyyyyyyy lacking. As far as the Bogosian and Gorges trades, those are contract dumps. Whether it is with those teams or not, I'd do just about anything to shed their contracts and, more often than not, bad play. The Manson for Girgensons trade is interesting. You have Anaheim with a lot of great defensemen, and they could possibly look to move one or two and look to add to their forward depth. Manson is still cheap, but his contract will be coming up. Not only will it cause Anaheim cap trouble, but they will soon get to the point where they have too many NHL defensemen for their roster (aka they'll be wasting talent in AHL). It'd be great for the Sabres to find a RHD to pair with McCabe on the second pairing, and the ducks might just accept a trade for a young forward who still has potential.

I don't know of many teams who could eat a contract like bogo's and not get anything back. Don't get me wrong I think manson would be a great fit with McCabe I just don't think zemgus is enough and he's another sabre I enjoy watching and who I think is a solid third line center. I just don't think it's far for Anaheim I think they could get more for Manson who is looking like a solid second line shut down defenseman
