Description
This is just what I would do if I were Marc Bergevin
To discuss the signings. I see KK signing a cheap bridge. He’s been good but not good enough to deserve a big pay check. Lecky is a good depth guy who can play pk and gives it his all. Poehling and Fleury are good enough to make the club next year and will both get cheap prove it contracts. Dunn gets a pretty expensive contract but with the chariot contract gone it would only cost an extra 500k and imo Dunn is a big upgrade. Hoffman has been rumoured to the habs in the past and he makes sense. 5 mil is a lot but we don’t need a lot of cap until Caufield is up. Perry is solid and I’m hoping he comes back as depth. Danualt is a big part of this team and needs to come back. I see him signing anything between 4.5 and 5.5 mil, which is worth it. I think we should sign him to a 3 year deal and hope when he’s up KK and slot right in his spot and he can either go or accept a bottom 6 role

Released players. Tatar is gone. He has been good but after his injury he really slowed down and after being scratched he’s not coming back. Armia is also really good but he’s not good enough offensively. I can’t see him fitting in the top 9 and he’s too good for the 4th line. Merril and gustafason shouldn’t come back, simple.

Now for line combos.
Line 1: Toffoli steps in for Tatar. He has proven he can score and can play in the d zone. Danualt and Gally stay where they are.
Line 2: Caufield and Suzuki have shown great chemistry and should stay together. Anderson should be with them due to his break out ability, speed, size, and ability to screen the goalie.
Line 3: KK is a good playmaker and along side a goal scorer in Hoffman it could be a good duo. Poehling should be along side them due to his ability to score, and pass. He deserves a chance in the top 9. My main worry of this line would be lack of defensive ability.
Line 4: Good energy line with speed and good defensive ability
Pairing 1: similar to the Weber-Mete pair, a Weber-Dunn pair would be good. Weber is good defensively but with his age he’s getting slow, Dunn has good offensive ability, defensive ability and speed.
Pair 2: Petry-Edmundson. Was good this season and showed stay together. But if Romanov is ready, play him in place of Edmundson.
Pair 3: Fluery and Romanov are 2 young defenders with a lot to prove. They can be a solid shut down pair who can be played in all situations. They could be prone to rookie mistakes but they need to play to develop.
Kulak can be the depth. May be controversial since he can play anywhere but the kids need to develop.
Goalies
Starter: Price, nothing more to say
Backup: Primeau, got lit up this year but he has the skill and potential. I believe he can be a good nhl goalie. Just needs to get his confidence back.

  1. Drouin, Jonathan
Détails additionnels:
Drouin is good but at this time he’s really not needed. We have young playmakers and Arizona needs a good skilled top 6 forward. We clear cap and get a pick Arizona gets a player who can help set up Kessel or Garland

  1. Chiarot, Ben
Détails additionnels:
This trade can be to any team for anything it doesn’t really matter. We move chariot since we need a puck moving defencemen. Chariot can be good but he takes a lot of dumb penalties and can be a defensive liability at times

STL
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2021 (MTL)
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (MTL)
Détails additionnels:
This trade is made to acquire a good puck moving defencemen that STL has been rumoured to want to move on from. They don’t have a 2nd this year so we give them one. We also give them a second next year since 2022 picks have more value the 2021 picks. They can use these picks to either draft or trade.

i think there is more chance to see drouin getting trade for a prospect...i would trade him for a better positioning first round pick...i would go for a guy like brandt clarke but he will probably go in top 10

At this point I don’t see Drouin going for a lot considering his scoring woes. I see him going for 2nd that way we can either trade it, or draft our own guy. This is also for the sake of Drouin to trade him to a smaller market which hopefully he thrives in

Here's the thing, it's not that the Blues want to move away from Dunn. It's that they need to clear room for potential cap hits in Kyrou and Thomas. Two 2nd rounders is what Toews got so value wise it's right. Would rather do Brook and a 2nd, but either is acceptable.

I can agree that it’s probably an overpay. But I can see a lot of other teams being interested and we have so many draft picks it doesn’t matter. It’s nice to have a ton of picks but there’s only so many roster spots available that we’d have to let guys either re enter the draft or turn into UFAs
