Description

Too much talk about Zucker being ineffective, when Kapanen has been far and away the worst Penguin forward. 6 goals agaisnt at 5v5 to only 3 for is not going to cut it. Zucker away from Kapanen has been on the ice for 1 goal for and zero against. Zuck has played 25 minutes with Kap and 24 minutes away. They are a terrible duo and are only hurting Malkin's return.

I want to give Malkin the defensively responsible Zucker and Gaudreau and play them 3rd to 4th line minutes. That gives Carter the combo of McCann and Kapanen who had great success this year during the regular season. In fact, McCann was one of just 4 regular forwards who Kapanen had a positive expected goal rate with. The other 3 make up the 4th line which we know won't get broken up.

I haven't been impressed with that Pettersson-Marino pairing, but POJ had a really tough job defending during the regular season. I think I would rather keep the more defensively responsible Pettersson in the lineup and hope that some changes to the forward core and last change spark some offense in Game 5, but that could change for game 6 if the lineup runs dry again.

I wouldn't mind doing that on Long Island, but with last change at home I'd rather have Rust's shot on Sid's line. When we don't have last change I agree that the speed and physicallity of Tanev would be a much more welcomed piece to the top line. Sid and Jake generated scoring chances the last few games, but not enough high quality one. Tanev opens that line up to more high danger chances.
