Any trade for Tavares probably starts with Fabbri, Barbashev and two 1st rounders as the will probably be low first rounders. Boychuck, Harmonic, and Pulock, Islanders are fine on the right side.

The thing about this trade would be that Shattenkirk would have to agree to an extension with the Islanders. I know he's from New York, but would he really want to be there through a rebuild? Also, this is quite a bit for the Blues to give up for a rental. Tavaras could make $10 million or more per year on the open market next summer. The Blues don't have room for that if they eventually want to re-sign Fabbri and Parayko. The smarter move for the Blues to fix their weakness at center would be to wait until the summer and try to nab a free agent. They could offer sheet Johanson from Nashville or sign Desjardins as a UFA.

Yeah sorry Shattenkirk will never agree to a 5 year deal with the NYI the market will easily dictate 7 years $49 million for him easily and Army isn't giving Tavares 7 years $77 million when his contract is up no way and that's what it's going to take to resign JT.
