Description
You can see we've got 700K left. If you wanted more cap space, do the Toronto model and run 20 guys on the roster.

I don't really think Hall is the best fit in the top 6 but the storylines would be great. Honestly speaking, I wish we had a right handed center who can play in the top 6 like a Elias Lindholm, Trochek, Rakell. Would open up a lot more options. Problem is those guys are all under contract and probably hard to acquire. Hall is free.

As a side note - I think the perfect 3C is Adam Lowry's size and physicality with Glendening's faceoff ability who can PK and maybe chip in 30-35pts in 82 games all while making less than 2.5M.

Don't really know if Cogliano and Boyd are fast, but they sound like good PKers - that's all we need from our bottom 6. Be good on the PK and fast so Nuge and Draisaitl can focus on offence.

Just buyout Neal instead of giving away Benson, and a 1st.

Neals buyout if very manageable.

$2mill/year in penalties till 2025 isn't manageable. Thats the window we should be winning cups in with McD and Drai in there primes. We can't afford more buyouts. I'd much, much rather give up a 1st+ to dump Neal

Youre not dumping Neal though. 2.875 million is being retained for 2 years which equals 5.75 million still being owed over the two years.

If you buy him out you pay him 1.916 million for 4 years which equals 7.666 million. by Trading him you save 1.916 million thats it. So you are going to trade Benson and a 1st to save 1.916 Million?

I am arguing we save $5.75mill against the cap by trading Neal's entire contract. Compared to a buyout ($1.916mill), we save 3.834mill extra

This post is arguing that we trade Neal with $2.875mill retained, saving us $2.875mill. Compared to a buyout ($1.916mill), that saves us 959k extra against the cap

Trading Neal with retention doesn't even save us $1mill. If the argument is that it saves ownership some money, then yea, it probably does

What do you guys think of the roster though? Is it a juggernaut? I don't really care about the money tbh - not a GM. I care about getting the best team together for the next 3-4 years which is our window.

Also, I'm not a fan of buyouts. I find that they linger longer than you'd want. Sekera, Pouliout, etc. are still on our cap until recently.
