Not bad at all. Some of the divisions might have to be tweaked (there's a 3 hour difference between Nashville and Arizona while daylight savings time is in effect), but the format works.

Also, you said the names don't matter, but... Wow, there's gonna be some upset people if you're naming them after former players from one of the teams. There's so much history in that Orr division. Just to annoy all of them, I propose it be named the Yashin division.

The only thing id want tweaked is the scheduling. I want more division games. Maybe cut the conference games to 2 instead of 3. I want playing your divisional opponents to matter more in winning your division. You site the NFL as a model. An NFL team plays 6 divisional games a season on a 16 game schedule where this nhl model plays 14 divisional games out of 82.

Hmm okay. That would mean 26 games against three teams. You’d be seeing them 8 or 9 times, so the same amount as this year but spread over the 82 game schedule. Could work!
