The issue here is the Rangers need to move salary before the year is over to avoid a cap penalty the following year because of all the bonuses. The Ducks not having to add in a good draft while helping the Rangers clear cap with a solid player is the trade off. Gotta figure Ducks pick would probably be fairly high also.

It will be a lot easier to move Buch and get a return vs trying to force someone to take on Smith and paying them with, most likely high, picks to do it.

Honestly, Id attest his success to great Zib is and hes a solid compliment on a line with him. However, I think he is what he is to this point and he is the odd man out going forward. I dont think we can afford to resign him long term.
