Robertson doesn't make the team?

Just my opinion but because of how defensive the team is caamano and gardner are higher on the depth chart right now. robertson could be a mid-season call up but I don't see him making it out of camp. With seguin being out to start the year he has a better shot I think but they would want a center up I think and I don't know if he has ever played c before.

- Seguin to IR/LTIR (will miss most, possibly all, of the season following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip)
- Move Dickinson to center to give you your 4th Center, OR bring up Dellandrea
- Don't sign Sheary & have Robertson on the roster instead
- Honka will likely start in the AHL (though I'd have him on the 3rd pair to start the season) & Pysyk will fill that 3RD spot

In the scenario that OP has here, Dickinson slides back into a Center role, allowing Robertson to slot into Dickinson's current LW spot. You're right that the Stars have a more defense-focused team right now, which is exactly why I see Robertson on the opening night roster. You can't expect to win every game 1-0 or 2-1. At some point, Dallas' aging goalies are going to come back down to earth & they'll need the offensive firepower that a guy like Robertson could potentially bring to the table.

I'll add on to this. Not a fan of signing sheary. stars need cap to clear bonuses and overages with miro, honka, rig, jfk, and Dickinson up at the end of the year. $22,644,166 is coming off the books but the overages from last season and the bonuses from this season based on this team take that down to $17,354,269. On a bridge, I think miro makes at least $6,000,000. Rig makes 4 or 5,000,000 or if you get another top 4 dman that is going to run you about the same. Dickinson makes around $3,000,000 but I'm probably a bit over on that. so that 3 guys signed and down to around 4.3m in cap with honka and jfk still needing deals. jfk and honka i would think make 1m each or more. Garner and caamano can replace cogliano and comeau. They both probably make around $925,000. Now down to $504,269 and the team still needs 1 forward plus guys in case of injuries.
