Flames MIGHT'VE been able to garner that level of return for Gio two years ago. A mid first and a B prospect is best case scenario now. Kylington isn't getting you a better return than Nate Schmidt. On his own, he might be worth a mid to late 2nd, early 3rd. He is likely part of a larger package if he is traded at all.

And looking at team needs, roster construction and where each team is in relation to the cap as well as where they are in their development curve, flip the teams each player is going to (and even then I don't see either team being interested unless Flames include a draft pick to incentive Ottawa to eat Gio's contract) Ottawa has the need for good, professional veterans to help mentor their young players but don't need to pay a premium to for that. Teams who are in a win now mode, aren't in a position to absorb Gio's cap hit let alone do so for what he will contribute. Flames aren't in a position to eat any of it. As such...
