Depending on how Bennett and Shinkaruk play over the next couple seasons they might want to avoid a bridge deal and set the precedent that nobody makes more than Johnny. Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Shinkaruk could be a pretty nice core set of forwards to build off of, all averaging around a $6M cap hit. Compare that to Toews/Kane/Keith/Seabrook or Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Kessel.

Keith has one of the best contracts in the league, and if you're going to bring up defenseman in core, bring up Flames as well. Brodie again has one of the best contracts in the league.
