ah man .. i guess johnsson was not ever worth a bag of pucks. buyout dangit now that bum is on the books for 6 yrs instead of 3 .. why couldn't they just have buried him in the minors ... or eaten 50% for 3 yrs would have been cheaper..

Frankly, the amounts being discussed really isn't a big deal. Even the $3.25Mx3 isn't near as bad of dead space as other teams have. Six years of $1M is not ideal, but again, not destructive. But burying would have been the best cap option in my eyes. $1M more in the first two year, then nearly a wash, then $1M more free space for three years.

Six seasons from not the Pens may not be able to sign/trade for someone because they need $1M more space... That is nauseating.

6 seaons from now they will be in the middle of a total rebuild... actually i think the rebuild starts in 2022 .. and ur right 1 mil for extra 3 yrs is lose change .. buried in the minors was the best option..
some team could have had a rash of injuries and gotten REALLY DESPERATE
