Here, I am taking the approach that Yzerman is actively trying to improve this team for next season to get out of the basement and perhaps strive to be a bubble playoff team. Trades are more aggressive, bad players are not retained or are buried, the Wings are aggressive and the Markstrom rumors are true, and the current rumor for the Red Wings 4oa pick (Cole Perfetti) earns a spot in the lineup.

I have heard Yzerman plans to go for Markstrom and I like the player but I just don't feel he fits the team state... why sign a 30yo goalie when we are rebuilding but I get it.. he wants to "field a team and be competitive " i think you're missing Matthias Bröme who plays wing and would probably be in the big club before Perfetti

I like Brome but I don't think he will end up bringing anything outstanding to the team and will end up in Grand Rapids like many other EU signings. But as I said in the preamble, here the Red Wings are shooting for a surging youth movement to try and make the playoffs, and are trying to add to that with guys like Haula and Markstrom.
