Blackwood is their future and he established he’s going to be the starter next year. Could sign a vet backup. I just left him to show despite his 6 million they’re still well under the cap. If there’s a CBO he’s a good candidate for it

Brodie signing would be nice, not sure about giving up a 2nd and a 3rd as a rebuilding team still. we already don't have a 2nd or 3rd this year and are going to miss out on some good talent because of it.

The three first rounders will more then make up for that. They have some decent talent coming up soon too. The rebuilding teams can’t just stock pile picks and prospects either. Granted as a Rangers fan I’d love to watch the devils suck forever, but you can use those assets for young players or established semi young guys. Killorn, Volkov and Dermott for 2nd and 3rd next year, 4th this year and Gignac isn’t bad. Plenty of cap space and Zajac coming off next year they could make a splash. Two years from now another 15 mill comes off with subban and Schneider

With their cap space and the upcoming expansion draft I’d be trying to grab some bad contracts with young guys, prospects or picks as sweeteners with them. They may be a year or two from adding middle six but I’d try to get at least one. Rangers model has been successful so far

I keep seeing non NJ fans resigning him in AGMs for that same kind of contract, but any Devils fan will tell you that he’s worth more to us getting an offer sheet at that price so we can be compensated a 3rd round pick. Not faulting anyone for it, seeing as they probably don’t watch much Devils hockey, but the guy is a dumpster fire.
