I really hope you guys are joking

Ok so Weber isn't an elite d-men who has been able to sustain his style of play for all these years even if every supposed «expert» predicted he would fall off a cliff when he was traded?? Weber is still a top 10-15 d-men in the league, easily.

Very fair point but you need that pain in the ass if you're going to (again) face BOS in the playoffs. Of course Domi is way worse than Marchand but you need that. If only one player on your team takes dumb penalties here and there then so be it.

Yes and I have a secret. We have bigger problems against Tampa. A guy like Gudas would actually make sense. He is gritty and good on defense
Weber could be a help but his contract isn't helping us one bit.
not saying this is a bad trade but LOL Montreal needs to add

nope

If this trade happens in real I will eat a hat live on camera and cheer for the Boston bruins my entire life

Yes and you 100% forgot that Weber is making money for the next 100000000 years.
Gudas will be for 1-2 years.

Nope that's not how it works... you see, even without Nylander (who I like a lot), TOR still has Matthews, Tavares and Marner who have a 30 goal potential... you have DOmi who can score 25 and Kappy who can score 20. Let's be very conservative here... Matthews scored 45, JT scores 35, Marner scores 25, Domi scores 25 and Kappy scores 15... that's 145 goals for FIVE players... you still have 7 forwards and 6 d-men to score, say 100-130 more... easily done, considering the players TOR has, I mean, if healthy Reilly scores 12-15 pretty easily...

The Leafs have a holy freaking ton of offensive options, which means... one of the big four isn't crucial to the well being of the team.

Go cheer for the scumags known as the Bruins, I don't give a damn, but the Leafs would be a lot better if this trade happened, finally Holl would play less which would help him, Liljegren wouldn't have to play like 18 minutes as soon as next season and Muzzin wouldn't have the pressure of being the 1st shutdown d-man all season long.

Weber>>>>>Nylander. Fact. Weber is an elite d-man and Nylander is a borderline elite forward... d-men have more value to their teams than forwards, because the play more, are supposed to hit more, etc.

Dude with a 2,5 mil retention for 6 years (which by the way MB would never do but let's say he does for the sake of the argument), Weber would be a freaking bargain for the next 2 seasons, being his 35 and 36 year old seasons. At 37, he'll still be worth around 6 mil. So not a complete bargain anymore, but an amazing contract. At 38 and 39 he'll be worth around 5 mil or slightly less. And at 40 he might be worth 4 mil or around that but you're only counting for what he brings on the ice...

Weber is one of the most respected, admired players in the league. His leadership is known by everyone. His physical and defensive play is remarquable and he'll be known forever as being one of the best shutdown d-men of all time. Weber is a first ballot HOF. That's what you get in him. Nylander doesn't even come close to that, and I don't care about his age, the guy is 23, he's entering his prime, he won't get better, if he were 2-3 years younger then you'd be right in a away. But not now.

Just the fact that you answer me with laughing emojis, which, spoiler alert, ISN'T AN ARGUMENT, proves that you know, deep down, that I'm right
