I think JVR and Corrado for Trouba straight up is a fair deal. Remember, Toronto has the leverage in this situation. Personally, I would love to see Trouba on the Leafs. I think he would be a perfect fit with Morgan Rielly. The only thing is, if they get Trouba, that pushes Carrick off of the roster. However, Trouba is much better than Carrick will ever be IMO. We'll see though, the Bernier trade definitely frees up some cap for the Leafs to make a big trade.

I'd ideally take one of their goalies back in the deal, however it didn't work with the cap. Though, JVR & Frankie may be sufficient to get it done as you say. I think Kapanen is overrated and expandable with Nylander and Marner lining up 1 and 2 on the right side for the next few years.

I agree with Carrick being pushed off the roster, as I liked his play last year, but he's not a top 4 guy yet. I'd give him a year with the Marlies and then next year when Polak's deal is expired (or if he's moved at the deadline) Carrick can slot into the bottom 2 or top 4 if Zaitsev is a bust.

JVR helps replace Ladd and WIN doesn't have many holes but young depth defenseman is one of them, Kapanen's value would be better used elsewhere. Also I think Leafs have too many Dmen after signing Polak, Leafs need to see what Marincin, Zaitsev, Carrick can do as well as push Rielly Gardiner and hopefully Trouba to be the best. I think Trouba really compliments the Leafs D Core

From a Jets perspective - no thanks. Would you give up Morgan Rielly for JVR and Corrado?

Toronto has the leverage? WPG has the high end young D man that they don't want to trade. I would think they would have the leverage?

This trade isn't very good from a timing perspective. WPG is building so why trade for 2 years of a 25-25 player, a project with skill (kap) and a depth d man??? Seems to make no sense. Toronto would need to be giving them a solid 1 for 1 which I don't think they can do unless they want to move Nylander or Marner. At that point WPG still says no: they have lots of the same.
