A 1-2 year bridge would make sense (for both the team and the player) if he only gets those 10 goals this year. A 7 year deal puts him at what age 30 when it ends? That limits the earning potential of his next contract. His agent should be fired if he took that 7 year deal. UFAs (or RFA on their last year) want the long term deals. RFA's want the get to the UFA (or year before) status; which is when they'll get the big money deal.
The Coyle contract is the interesting one for me. He has a history of great play for 20-30 games then he'll completely disappear for 20-30 games. He had a great Playoffs last year, so Bos should wait on signing him until if/when he goes into invisible mode this year.
Good point, but I guess thats the same for Debrusk if you really think about it. (
@Bcarlo25 ) ... He is very streaky (goes 10 good games and then 10 bad games / goals in bunches), injury prone (has like 3 concussions and 3 lower-body injuries over the past 3 years), and hasn't done much in the absence of Krejci ... so how much is he really worth!?
On the other hand, Coyle is versatile and can play C or RW, is a big body, loves Boston, and plays well and isn't injury prone at all! Im not saying ur wrong at all! but just consider
