Volkov has earned a spot in the lineup imo. Verhaeghe should be on the roster too, I just can't fit him into the lineup. Ruuta gives us D depth and Witowski gives us depth if anyone gets injured on offense or defense. The defensive pairings are pretty much set in stone, other than maybe sergy and shattenkirk switch, but I doubt it.
The offensive pairings:
1st line is weird in the sens that Stammer is a lock to center that line, and then literally anyone could go with him. I put a young Volkov next to him so he could have a nice speedy linemate, and put Gourde there for grit and occaisionally take a faceoff.
2nd line is a given, Kuch Pointer and Johnson played so well last year together, you can't not have them together.
3rd line is pretty easy. We saw how good Killer and Cirelli did together last year, and that was no fluke. I liked when Joseph played on that line last year, so I went with him.
4th line was a little tough because it means we have to hinder one guys offensive production for the sake of having him on the 4th line. That guy is Ondrej Palat. With Ceddy and Maroon as his linemates they will be one of, if not, the best 4th lines out there. Toughness will never be a question, and they should be able to score relatively frequently.
Special Teams:
1 Powerplay is the same as it was last year with the exception of Anthony Cirelli taking over JT Millers role of staying behind the net and being tough.
2 Powerplay will have 2 d men, Shattenkirk and Sergy which will be interesting. Ideally I would have one, but I think for now we should see how both of them do. Johnson Gourde and Palat(or killorn) round out that bunch
Penalty Kill is pretty easy. Mac and Cernak are gold together and Heddy and Coby are very good on the pk. Johnson and Gourde are gonna do their best to keep the puck in the opponent's zone and Killer and cirreli are soooo good on the pk.
That should just about do it. I know Pointer will be out for a bit, but this is just a general idea of what it should be. Lemme know if there are any egregious errors in my logic.
