Okay, so if it goes 15 years back we'll say in the post-lockout cap era. Some teams were good and then faded (Detroit, Chicago, Boston), and some have been great recently (Tampa, San Jose, Carolina).

But through all that time Nashville has never had a year not icing one of the top 3 bluelines in the league, so it is not even close. Especially since they have had the best D AND traded away other top D for forward ranks.

New York Rangers, Chicago, and Washington have been 3 of the best over the last 10 years or so. Not necessarily recently.

Yeah they've had good d cores too in the last 10 years but the rangers were scary good a few years ago when guys like McDonagh, Girardi, Staal were in their prime and they also had guys like Dan Boyle, Keith Yandle, and Anton Stralman. I am definitely not a rangers fan but I know this D core helped them win a presidents trophy and make it to the finals too
