1st problem:TJ has 2 more full NTC years, whats the point of him going to Buffalo to miss the playoffs ( most likely outcome next year).
Yes there is miracles and you can't predict in hockey, but looking at the Eastern conference, teams are too strong in general.
Just think about Florida Goaltending vs Buffalo goaltending. And we dont even know if Panthers makes the playoffs or not...
Can the Sabres even finish before Montreal, who barely missed the playoffs with like 96 points? So why would anyone want to go to Buffalo with a NTC?
If i were TJ and he asks to waive my NTC for Sabres, i would say to our GM(BriseBois): Are you high or you drink too much last night?
2nd Problem: We don't need Sheary(another small guy) and his 3 mill cap, then he leaves for free next year.
I think from Buffalo we only interested in RHD, so Montour, Colin Miller...
...and maybe Ristolainen if we want to take the risk that he is gonna be a + player next years.( = need to be much better defensively, which is doubtful for now)
So i think you want to keep Colin Miller(thats why u traded for him no?), so that leaves for trade only Montour most likely.
Remember: last year TJ score almost 30 goals. That's not 10-15 goals. That's a solid performance. His contract is decent as well for next 2 years fur sure.(even with regression)
3rd problem: 2nd round pick is too weak ( i expect buffalo to miss the playoffs by 10 points) = around 90 points, so much better than this year's results, so like 2nd round 50th pick = not that valueable when we want to win the cup.
Even making a stanley cup final next 3 years = failure for us, its cup or bust...
I think they realized this year that regular season doesn't matter, so i never expect another 1st round exit vs mid tier teams:12-16th place.
So you can guess whats our answer to your trade proposal.
