I think Zacha gets more term. If you give him a 1-2 year deal he's going to put more pressure on himself. I still don't think he's a bust, he's still very young, but it feels like he's had the YIPS his whole career – just squeezing the stick too tightly.

Give him 3 x $2.5 – $3m before Hughes needs a new deal and the kid can afford to fail – retire at 25 with $10m in his bank account if it doesn't work out.

I am not 100% on this but I think if you sign him to a 3 year deal Zacha will be a UFA at the end of it, since he has already played 4 season (1 season with 1 NHL game not sure if that counts) and that would take him to 7 seasons in the NHL and thus a UFA.

Also I think if anything the pressure should be mostly off Zacha after the draft as he is now behind Hischier and technically Hughes in the center depth charts. Personally I would like to see Zacha center the 3rd line with Hughes at LW to take some pressure of Hughes at the faceoff dot and give Zacha a dynamic player to play with and hopefully get him off to a faster start that last year.
