Rangers (according to the almighty Twitter) are looking to clear up some cap space. Staal has a full NMC and likely cancels this trade but the basis of the trade is the leafs put the cost of 6.5Mil of cap space at a 1st rounder. Staal has 2 years of 5.7Mil and I'm a fan of Anthony. So it's his RFA rights and a 2nd rounder which frees up roughly 10Mil for the Rangers to sign Trouba, Krieder, Buchnevich and Lemieux. Yes, Staal isn't very good anymore but we dont need to be this year and we can buyout his final year next summer for Brannstrom. Deangelo is an upgrade on Demelo who lost his spot to Zaitsev anyway and is a UFA at the end of the season.

I am also a fan of the idea, of seeing Tuch's speed with Tkachuk. Tuch is also wonderfully cost controlled for many years if he continues putting up 50pt seasons. Sens already have 6! 2nd rounders over the next 2 years and picked up a 7th hypothetically in the Rangers trade. So...7 years age 23-30 of Tuch hopefully 50pts a season for two 2nd rounders we can do without (and helps Vegas become cap compliant).

Bjugstad for Tierney is simply a preference trade for me. Both about the same age, I think Bjugstad is more likely to maintain a 20g50pt player than Tierney so I'm selling high and buying low. Gives Pits a million in saving to get Acton Reese signed and round out their 12 forwards group. Personally, I feel like JGP is a better fit and penalty killer of the three which is what they need behind Crosby and Malkin.

Before I get flamed. I intentionally left the last LW/RW spot blank. Sens still need to stir up some excitement this year and Rookies will do that. Keep a roll of whoever is playing well in the AHL of Bath,Brown,Formenton,Balcers,Paul,Abramov,Chaplik,Vernnoneau and Norris.

I probably move Brown and JGP at the deadline to bring up any of those 9 guys permanently for the final stretch.

There is like 16Mil on my LTIR that 2 or 3 might not actually get placed on to meet the floor.
