There is going to be a bidding war of a trade market for Gusev.. no way that package gets it done.

Disagree. At most a B level prospect and an assumed late 2nd rounder. That's about it considering he has no NHL experience and the fact Vegas can't negotiate for a big increase. He could be Panarin or Dadonov or end up being like Nichushkin or Shipachyov.

Team's will have scouted him already, I mean a lot of team's have full time scouts in the KHL. There will be a bidding war if team's really like the player, and if that happens it will likely be a first going the other way.

Of course teams have scouted him. But when he's never played on anything other than Olympic sized ice rinks, people are wary of paying a big price for him. Teams for the most part are reluctant to trade 1sts and risk not having one if it doesn't pan out. Why do you think Winnipeg wanted theirs back so badly?

Scouting means they project the player's potential in the NHL. Team's that are rebuilding are wary of their first, but the goal is to win the cup. If a few team's think that Gusev can be the piece that makes them a contender (i.e. turning their powerplay into more of a threat) then a first will be a small price to pay.

It's not a small price to pay anymore. Also, when Panarin came into the league he was 23 and still had room to grow. Gusev is 27. 4 years doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. He's not going to grow. Some team will take a gamble on him for a couple 2nds maybe, or like I said, a B level prospect and a 2nd.

We'll see what he goes for, but like I said, there will be at least one team willing to gamble on him if they think it makes them contenders.

A team is going to gamble, I just don't think it will be for a first or blue chip prospect.
