Description
This offseason the Isles need forward help. I do not expect them to do much on defense. But here are some factors I took into account:


1. Shedding Cap Space: They need to clear space to not only take on salary of potential forwards this offseason but also for the future.


2. Ridding the 3 goalie system: Isles do not need 3 goalies, and Halak has been reported to be the most likely to go.


3. Using current assets to get Tavares help: Isles have the assets to acquire a top line forward.


Note: I am not sure if Pelech would be exempt from the expansion draft. If he was, I would have packaged DeHaan with another forward, most likely Nelson, for another forward. This way there is value coming back and a forward slot for expansion protection opens up.

      I think this is the most realistic outlook of what may happen within the next 7-10 days. I agree with your Note 100%. would try and sign a better option at about the $1MM range to replace Bernier. DO you think Boedker would be a better option than Hudler for about an extra $500K per yr?

      Thank you for the feedback! As far as Bernier goes I think I read from Arthur Staple (Isles beat writer) that Garth Snow was planning on bringing him back as a 13th forward type of player.

      Boedker I am personally not a fan of. I find him overvalued and not worth the investment. His possession numbers aren't good, he has never hit 20 goals. It is too big of a risk. I think Hudler, while coming off of sort of a down year, is a much safer, cheaper, and more skilled option. There are options to fill that spot internally as well, but I think it would be an interesting and safe pickup.
