You vastly underpaid both Vasilevskiy and Point. If Murray of PIT wants to get 10 million, why should Vasilevskiy get less considering he’s much better? Also, if McDavid gets 12.5 million, why should Point only get 8.5?

Cause so far Tampa players have taken discounts for the team it’s a team thing it’s not like other superstars on teams tryna get their bread

Kucherov is better than Point. It’s not even that close. One of them scored 128 points, earned a Hart trophy, leads the team in playoff production over the past few runs, and is 2nd of all NHL players in points since 2015. Point is by far my favorite player and his defensive capabilities are often underrated, and centers are more valuable, but still, he’s not Kucherov. I would consider him somewhat comparable to Stamkos, with more speed and defensive prowess and less offensive prowess (keep in mind Point played with Kucherov and Stamkos didn’t). $8.5m for Point is a very reasonable deal for both sides, especially since Point has stated that he will be agreeable and accept a discount.

Vasilevskiy is definitely comparable to the goalies on $10m salaries, but he’s an RFA. RFAs don’t get to set UFA comparables for themselves; those are two very different markets. He also doesn’t have the same proven consistency of Price and Bobrovsky, who have performed well across 10+ seasons rather than 3. He will get a contract closer to Hellebeyuck, Gibson, or Bishop. $7.5m for an RFA goalie - even an elite one - is fair pay.

That being said, Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev, and Joseph might want more. I would be ecstatic if they took these types of contracts, but I would give $4mish to each of them other than Joseph, who can take what we have left or walk. If Masin is ready we’ll get rid of Coburn and not sign Schultz and then probably be fine long-term.

It looks like a slightly improved version of the roster that has held two of the past three Cup winners to a game seven during the ECF (and has a similar core to the 2014-15 SCF team that lasted six games and only once surrendered a lead of more than one goal), so I’m going to say yes.

I see Sergachev, Cernak getting around 4m for 3 years and Cirelli at 3.5-4m for 2-3 years, I think Joseph is better used as a trade asset personally as there are very similar crunch players coming up for cheaper.
Vasy i cant see coming in over 10m for all same reasons as I_Know_Nothing_About_Hockey_Or_Any_Sport2
