Thanks for the feedback. Here's my thoughts:
Kreider has one year left to UFA status and, as a guy who has surpassed 25 goals twice, isn't a lock. Assumption is Rangers know they are losing him (Panarin and Kakko both play his position) and Edmonton has been clear that they aren't moving JP for peanuts. Seems like a reasonable bet.
Carter is 1.5 million/year cheaper than Shattenkirk, and gets rid of a guy who will need to be protected in the expansion draft (which is a big deal).
Everyone would rather have Kappanen than Brown. He's also way more expensive to acquire. Rumor for Brown was Matt Benning out of Edmonton, so Anthony DeAngelo seems to be a fair take.
Assumption with Winnipeg is that they are dumb... but also that they aren't going to retain Beaulieu and have a history of liking players like Belesky, who only has 1 year left anyway. If that trade doesn't go through we're talking about a 6/7 dman and 4th line winger so it doens't really impact much either way.
Carolina needs offense. Vessey's numbers the last 2 years put him solidly in their top 6 forwards and he is the right age for their core. 2nd and 4th seems like a reasonable price for that, but whether it's some slight difference in the picks doesn't really change the outcome.
