If I am the Oilers then I would rather have Namestnikov for the 4th round pick. He has some offensive upside and is defensively responsible

Chicago will take Strome...if New York takes Anisimov. We'll even throw in a mid round pick.

As far as this proposal is concerned, Anisimov wouldn't fit in financially. Hawks would either need to take Reaves or eat some salary to make it work.

You're assuming that Panarin would sign for 11mil. The problem is Florida wants him and would likely pay close to that same amount, except he'll play half his games tax free there.

But if you want to toss in Reaves instead of the pick, deal

Money will be a deciding factor with Panarin, sure. Banking on the fact that not only is $11M in NY a hefty sum, but the idea of playing in New York over a team with no fan base or hockey culture could also sway him here.

The problem that I'm seeing here with the SJ trade is threefold: first, the Sharks are going to be struggling with the cap this year and there's a strong liklihood that Braun will be traded for cap space. This trade would absolutely not free up any cap space, and that's an issue. Second, the Sharks have incredibly few picks ove the next three drafts - I doubt that they're going to give one of them up in a trade like this. Third, we're already seeing what a Sharks blue line with multiple offensive defencemen looks like and it's kind of a hot mess in some pretty major ways - and that's with EK65. I don't think this scenario would be an improvement.

How about you take Braun, the Sharks get a third, and we call it square? :P

All good points. Rangers are shedding Defenseman, as well. We don't want Braun. Would only take him to make the deal work.

Vancouver accepts if you take a 2020 3rd instead of the 2019. We are hosting the draft. No chance we give up any 2019 picks.

Vegas lets you keep Smith unless you want to retain 3.5m in salary, Hague is a better option for them and he is under 800k

2020 is the better Draft class. No issue there.

We retained half of Smith in the deal. By retaining half and taking on all of Miller and Reaves, the Knights get around $4.5M in Cap relief. Given your Cap restraints this coming Season, I figured that would be ideal.

I agree, which is why he will most likely choose NY over florida. NY will never be able to match the salary of florida and i will always cede that, but they'll be able to blow sunrise out of the water when it comes to endorsement money and fan base

NHL players that barely speak english don't make squat when it comes to endorsements. Anze Kopitar made a paltry 60,000 in endorsements. Florida also has a coach Panarin is familiar with. I think theyre closer to competing than New York. And Panarin just posted photos of himself in Miami

Rangers and Florida are on an equal playing ground in terms of time to compete.

I just think the rangers window is open longer because of the average age of most of their players (most are under 25). It's legitimately open for the next 7 years if they can sign panarin and get one of Trouba/Karlsson. They just have more numbers in terms of prospects that will fill in depth due to the number of 1st-3rd round picks they've had the last few years. Throw in that they are an attractive option for college free agents to fill in gaps.

Lundqvist made $700k back in 14-15.. that was 4-5 years ago. Elite talent always will make money in NY unless they straight up don't speak the language (even then we see it with the Yankees players who don't speak english at all) .. panarin can speak english.
The russians also will have an impact on him, Rangers just signed Kravtsov, Shestyorkin and Rykov. In addition they also have buchnevich. Has to be some pull in that department.

We don't even want Smith let alone taking on half his salary, plus we need to reduce more than 4.5m

Then you need to make more trades after that to shed more salary. Not likely to find many trades where you can shed more than that all at once.

We don't want Reaves, at all. But if we can facilitate a fair trade by acquiring him, then we would do it.

We would rather keep Reeves and not take on Smith. We have 10 top 9 forwards right now, we could move our Smith and Miller and that fixes our problem. And we can give you back Holden for a bag of pucks

Only way we would take Holden back is if we traded Smith to you (at 50%) to match salary, while providing a late Pick to pick up the 2nd year of Smith.
