Why are you giving up Kreider to give cap relief to Toronto. They would need to chip in alot more than Kapanen to even that out.

Tampa/Toronto deals are HORRIBLE for the rangers. Taking callahan alone is enough to go from 2nd to 1st round, let alone giving up Namestnikov w/ half retained.

Didn't think it was that far off. Blackhawks have shown interest in Strome. Smith a half the Cap hit. Koekkoek hasn't done anything. If the 2nd became a 3rd, would that make a difference?

IDK if tampa would part with him, they gave up namestnikov for a reason and they are high on cirelli. I personally would nix the 1st rounder and go straight for:
Callahan+Cal Foote for Namestnikov w/ half retained and a 2nd

I would do that in a heartbeat. But if Tampa is hesitant to part with Cirreli, they could be even more hesitant to part with Foote.

Smith just has no place on the Hawks at all, if they were to target a defensemen it would be Skjei (not that he's available). Strome would definitely be an interesting piece but I think it would be more like Koekkoek + 3rd or another prospect. I just don't think the Hawks are trading their 1st or 2nd this year.
