They desperately need centers. If the season started tomorrow, the center depth chart would be Barzal-Cizikaz- then maybe Koivula and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Not a ton of options for a 2C in free agency that would be a lower or similar cap hit to what Brock will get, either. Plus Brock is coming off a good season under Trotz and the hope would be that he continues to play well in Barry's system.
