They still get hit with the cap on Backes though, so that doesn't save them anything if Backes is sent down. I was guessing on Carlo's salary quite a bit, but Hockey Night in Canada was saying last game that McAvoy wants some pretty large cash, so they might have some issues moving forward.

incorrect. If Backes goes down they save 900K against the cap. Same for any player on a one-way actually.

My mistake, they actually save $1.025 million if they send Backes down, and are left with $4.975 million
