If Skinner Walks NYR WPG ARZ

Description
Head Coach: Scott Gordon

First Round Picks:
BUF (7:) Alex Turcotte, C
SJS (20-25:) Ville Heinola, LHD
WPG (20-25:) John Beecher, LW

Contracts: 48/50

There is no denying the fact that if Skinner walks Botterill is going to have to get VERY creative to keep his job safe for the future

NYR: I did a Risto to NY trade a few days ago and was told I undervalued Risto. So I increased our return up to a 1st rounder

WPG: A deal to shed cap for Winnipeg. Buffalo gets a good lockerroom player that can play up and down the lineup, and a strong bottom-6 C/LW.

ARI: Swapping RFAs with different skill sets. Buffalo adds size while Arizona gets a smaller speedier player

Note: Turcotte and Beecher aren’t signed as they will be going to college next season

The Rangers trading anything more than Neal Pionk and a bag of pucks for Risto scares me most about this off-season. He is garbage but im not sure they know how to evaluate defensemen.

Obviously the analytical people (myself included) are a bit scared off from Risto, but he does have some positives going his way. He’s pretty strong offensively with 4 40+ point seasons under his belt at a young age, can run a power play, is used to heavy minutes (the theory around buffalo is if you reduced these to closer to 20min a night he could become better,) and brings that heavy angry hockey to your defense. I understand anyone’s fear of Ristolainen but he does have things going for him that GMs May fall in love with

the thing is, we tried that already. it was called kevin shattenkirk.

Nylander hasn't proven he can stay in the NHL yet either. He's a good prospect do not get me wrong, but his value isn't close to what it used to be as a former #8 overall (rangers have a similar situation with andersson).
Buchnevich has proven he is a really good middle six forward. He still needs to have that true break out season but even if he stays as a 40-50 point middle six forward, I would have major issues of trading him, namestnikov and right now the 18th overall pick (if vegas and carolina win it would be the 16th overall) for Risto and Nylander.
To me, either buchnevich or the 16-18th overall pick hold more value than either of the players coming from buffalo. So essentially it's taking a loss on both and trading Namestnikov for a 7th round pick (maybe a 5th)

buch is finally becoming the top 6 he was projected to be. Look what happened when he got ice time at the end of the season he was almost point per game once hayes and zucc were gone and he had ice time. He had issues to start the season but turned it around after the half way point. New york rangers are giving up way to much in this deal for a potential bust in nylander who was projected elite level player now around a top 6, ristolinen who is good offensively but horrendous plus minus which worries me. 1st round picks are worth much more than they used to and winnipegs is probably going to be 19-20 which still have top end prospects there so, while buch could be considered a top 6 and namestikov who is a decent middle 6- top 9 forward (idk where to rank him). I'd pass on this deal quite easily atm.

Sabres happily keep Risto and Nylander if that is all you think we can get
