Acquiring Kessel in any scenario is a massive backwards step for the Canucks, let alone at the cost of 1st, 2nd and a Hobey Baker winner, and a decent player who's now a concussion case.

It is a hard no, not a chance, on the Virtanen deal for an unproven prospect who has missed 3 months with a concussion and wasn't good enough to stick in the NHL after 28 games

Kessel is a good player with a good contract, but he's not a fit because he's 31yo and during his time in TOR, it seems he found it hard dealing with the media.

He is slow, isn't a dynamic player, has a very problematic history with the Media in Canadian markets and is OLD.
I could care less about how many points he put up in Pits, playing alongside 2 of the best offensive centers in the game. He won't do that in Van.

And scoff at the "Hobey Baker" comment all you want, Gaudette's value is well beyond a "throw-in" on a deal considering he's as valuable as an early-mid 1st round center pick at this point.
