Description
Because of the changes to the expansion draft rules. specifically that teams must no longer expose at least 25% of their salaries, it makes more sense to buyout Lupul prior to the season.

I think you mixed up your picks in those trades. I don't see Pickard taking a 1st and a 2nd rounder to get that deal done. There are a few teams looking to get Vatanen so you might need to add that 1st rounder there to secure that trade.

Yes, the goalie demand is very low, only a handful of teams are looking for an option in net, I wouldn't be giving any high draft picks for an unproven goaltender

TML gives up too much for Pickard.

      ANA gets absolutely hosed though.

I dont think it much of an over payment. Jones got a late 1st (although I think the assumption would have been a mid-late) and Lehner got a mid-late 1st. Pittsburgh 1st round pick is going to be 29th or 30th. More like a 2nd rounder. And SJS's 2nd will probably be mid-late 2nd round unless they fall off a cliff next year. There really isnt much pressure to trade Pickard at this time so youre going to have to make it interesting for them. I think hes worth taking a chance on.

The Vatanen trade might side with the leafs but my reasons behind it are that I think hes a good defenseman but I dont think hes an amazing or great defenseman. Of all of the ducks young d-men i think hes probably behind Lindholm, Fowler and Theodore. I think the team would rather keep any of those guys. Analysts have reported that he is asking for about 6x6. I dont think the ducks want to make him the highest paid defenseman on a team with better guys coming up soon. Even though Bozak is a center and the ducks are probably looking for a winger I think this works because Bozak is a good Skater that brings some speed to the lineup. Gauthier is a B prospect with size which is what the ducks always look for. Maybe make it the leafs pick instead of the sharks pick so that its earlier in the round.
