I've never said he wouldn't sign with the Rangers long term? He's sure as hell isn't signing for no $6.5 million per that's for sure. You're not getting Trouba for any thing less then between $7 million to $8 million per long term. Rangers, Red Wings, Lightning and Panthers are his 4 preferred teams. And that's according to his agent Kurt Overhardt per Darren Dreger. So yeah the Rangers have a legit shot at him. And i hope they land him and pay him that $8 million because they will learn to regret it.

It was posted in an article awhile back when Trouba was sitting out, Darren Dreger was in touch with his agent Kurt Overhardt. And it was mentioned according to his agent that Detroit was Trouba's #1 preferred team followed by Tampa, Florida and New York. But that was like 4 years ago and probably things have changed maybe he's open to possibly signing with a few more team.

If it's been a while then yes I would assume things have changed. I think if WPG makes a run and they make room for him, I can see him staying for a 6-8 year deal. You are right however, that it will take around 7-8 million (I think closer to 7).

Trouba is the type of rD we've needed since the decay of Girardi and Staal. It's nice to hear we're in the running at least. According to "LarkinIsTroubasAgent" I thought Trouba was already DET property lol! I mean, Who wouldn't want to live in DET!?! So the question is, when in 19 or 20? Does he sign long term with a "promise" to get traded to a preferred destination, no. A risky 1 year deal with winterpeg, as their own rental? Or does he demand out in 19? ???

honestly i would rather the rangers go 4-5 years than the 7 year deal, trouba could technically still cash in when he turns 30 on a deal-- who knows. Rangers obviously have 7-8m to give him in this example, These are the deals i would consider a fair offer considering his age:

Honestly if he signs a 1yr contract that could still be good for the rangers-- they'd still be able to get him only wouldn't have to trade pionk and a 1st rounder. You trade pionk for another asset and hope the 1st develops into a solid player, considering we got Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist, etc after 20, i like our prospects of getting an impact player. Especially when you consider players that went after 20 over the last few years-- very solid prospects.
