That Riley Barber trade would never happen. There are reason the Capitals let Hendricks walk, and he doesn't even fit into the roster they want to have going forward. Not to mention that their organization is pretty high on Barber, so they wouldn't let him go for a borderline 4th liner and a 4th round pick.

That package doesn't get you both McDonagh and Hayes. Yakupov has almost negative value at this point, and Nurse's value is way way overrated by Oilers fans. The price for McDonagh alone is Draisitil, so it aint happening

I'm a big NYR fan, and think that package, all else equal, could get it done. Resolves at least some cap issues, doesn't throw blue-line into chaos which would require additional fancy moves, adds a young Russian (who NYR FO has been high on ever since he was drafted) and replenishes draft stock. Chiarelli wants a young vet who can anchor a blue-line and big bodies upfront. Gorton wants to get younger, faster, ease cap and certainly replenish the pipeline. Like everything about this package.
