I don't care if the Wings are a bubble playoff team at the 2020 TDL. They NEED to still be sellers. This is the last year of them being bad, so they need to stockpile assets so they can be buyers in the future at the TDL, or just have an incredibly stocked farm system. If Holland stays put or buys if the Wings are competing for a playoff spot, I will actually lose my mind. Hopefully the wings are still bad enough that there is no temptation in Holland's mind.
I don't mind Hronek being the only young D-man up before the TDL. Would be nice to see them move Daley in the Offseason, but I don't know if they will find a suitor. If Kronner retires, and possibly even if he doesn't, the Wings will probably go after a player like Myers or Gardiner on 4ish year deals, because they will need another experienced defenseman on the blueline if they want to be competitive in the next couple years. In all honesty, if Kronner's knees hold up, I think he'd be an effective, experienced d-man next year as the wings finish out their rebuild.
There is a deeper class of UFA defenseman in 2020, so there is no need to hang onto the aging defenseman on expiring contracts. To do so would be idiotic.
If Hicketts, Sulak, Saarijarvi, or any of the young defensemen coming out of juniors or overseas (looking at you Lindstrom) impress the Wings in training camp and with the Griffins, bring them up after the deadline and sit Bowey.
The Wings are gonna suck next year, but I think it will be the end of Wings' fans suffering.
Daley will be moved at the deadline unless he gets hurt, so I really don't care who takes him. The wings will take whatever any team will give for him as he is actually really bad.
