These offers are low and bad so its not hard to figure.. Im a Leafs fan but Zaitsev would realistically gets 7th rounder.. Pesce's asking price is Kapanen reportedly

Second the no from the Canes. Pecse isn’t going anywhere unless it nets a Top 6 forward who can put the puck in the net. For the Leafs...this means Nylander or Kapanen.

You’d be better off asking for Faulk.

NJ needs D...zaitsev is not a huge liability, if he was he wouldn't be playing 20 minutes a night. Leafs fans just look for ways to hate their own players. kid put up 40 points in his rookie season. probably should be able to get more than a fourth. brown has been bounced back and forth between lines and has potential to put up a lot of points on Carolina in an elevated position. I know the asking is kappy but thats not happening, which is why I threw in a C level prospect that hasn't developed in the leafs organization and a second.

Typical leaf fan overvaluing their own players.. No way the canes make that trade, I can't see the Devils wanting Zaitsev either

Okay, here’s how you do this. Kidnap the families of marner, Kapanen, and the gms of Carolina and Jersey so those deals can get down. Then kidnap bettman and force him to raise the cap because this team STILL doesn’t work with the cap

Even if the teams somehow accepted these offers, it wouldn't be able to dress a full squad as you have no players who would be scratched.

I love its always "leaf fans overvalue their own players" until it comes to contracts then Leaf fans are idiots who undervalue their players, and they are all getting Offer-sheeted!!!! lol.

Zaitsev is not a huge liability on the ice. Average player, but when you combine average player with paid too much, and for too many years, with little expectation of potential growth, in a hard cap system, now he is a big liability. Made even worse by a team who will have major cap problems next year. You need to look at all aspects, not just play on the ice. He is playing 20 minutes a game because Toronto has no other options. They can't afford to send him down and play someone else, they have bonuses they want to cover with this year's cap space.

So if a big issue is specific to the leafs (cap crunch coming up) why would that degrade his value on another team that isn't having a cap crunch and needs RD!?

yea the peace trade is a little weak, but I think those pieces work for the most part, might need to upgrade Timashov for an SDA or smthn

It is called dealing from a position of weakness. Other teams know Toronto must get rid of salary. Thus they would offer less. As an example, if you were stranded on a desert island, you would pay more for a boat then you would if you were sitting comfortably at home, and boat sellers would charge you a higher price to purchase a boat if you were stranded on an island then if you were somewhere else. Basic economics.

still doesn't give him negative value. Zaitsev separate from the leafs is probably worth a second. Basic economics docent give a **** about who's selling. people just want the best value for what they are paying. and the leafs can offer a good value for a zaitsev because he doesn't fit on the team!

If Johnsson nylander or kappy we’re moved there would be plenty of offers from around the league... supply and demand....if there are 12 boat salesman the price goes down.... basic economics.

Agree with you Jamie, lots of teams would be interested in Johnson/nylander/Kappy, depending on what was asked for and what type of contract they are signed to. As for the 12 boat salesmen, they all recognize the situation the person stranded on the island would be in, thus they would all ask more for their boat then they would if that person was safely at home. They may not all ask for the same, but they would all ask for more based on the desperate situation of the person on the island. And that is why Toronto in a cap crunch will need to pay more/get back less for the same player than if their cap was in good shape.

I think what you’re getting at is no one is going to over pay to try and pry any players loose. That I agree with.
