Lukas Radil a signé un contrat de 1 ans d'une valeur de 700 000 $ avec les Sharks de San Jose, le 6 janv. 2019. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 700 000 $.
Every dollar counts when Karlsson, Pavs and Meier will all be free agents after this season. Good job from the management. Have to give credits to Radil and his agent also.
A rookie this season (tho not technically Calder eligible) and an undrafted late bloomer, Radil has improved with every season, moving up the ranks in his native Czech Republic then spending 3 years in the KHL.
He is taking the league minimum for next season (his age 29 season), which gives him financial security vs the 2-way contract he signed coming into this season (where he made more - $750k - at the NHL level but just $100k in the AHL). Tho it’s technically “less”, he will walk away with more money next season.
In limited minutes this season he has demonstrated fhat he can be an effective bottom-6 forward for a contender. I would expect him to play a pretty significant role for the Sharks with the opportunity to move up and down the lineup as needed.
Solid sign for a team with not many dollars to use.
