I've always felt that the Oilers and the Jets have what the other needs. Jets have size and tenacity and an abundance of quality young LW and RHD. Oilers have skill players galore entering their prime but lack a team toughness. They carry three scoring centres and have an opportunity to draft a fourth. Any trade they complete has to be with the intention to make them a harder team to play against and improve their defence to a point where they can get the puck out of their zone to their skilled forwards. If I were to break down this trade, I would rather have Laine under control for 6+ years (including 3 at entry level expense) than Hall at $6M for 4. I'd rather have Trouba than Reinhart but flipping Lowry for a first would be a small advantage to the Jets (although I think he is really appreciated by the team).
There is something there but I'm not sure if this is it. Connor instead of Laine? Klefbom instead of Reinhart? Not sure.
