Description
Oilers Radio show suggested a number of trades to improve the oilers. This was the team: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/18436

Jets fans what do you think? Their justification was that Hall is an elite forward now and brings maturity that aligns better with the team's age now rather than having 3 young LW.

I've always felt that the Oilers and the Jets have what the other needs. Jets have size and tenacity and an abundance of quality young LW and RHD. Oilers have skill players galore entering their prime but lack a team toughness. They carry three scoring centres and have an opportunity to draft a fourth. Any trade they complete has to be with the intention to make them a harder team to play against and improve their defence to a point where they can get the puck out of their zone to their skilled forwards. If I were to break down this trade, I would rather have Laine under control for 6+ years (including 3 at entry level expense) than Hall at $6M for 4. I'd rather have Trouba than Reinhart but flipping Lowry for a first would be a small advantage to the Jets (although I think he is really appreciated by the team).

There is something there but I'm not sure if this is it. Connor instead of Laine? Klefbom instead of Reinhart? Not sure.

If the rationale is to move Laine for Hall to make the Jets more competitive today then the trade of Trouba and Lowry for Reinhart and a pick is counterintuitive.

Based on what I saw at the end of the year Reinhart can play 3rd pairing D.

I think by removing Trouba you get the extra space to sign someone like Backes which is probably one of the biggest needs on the team.

The only way you keep Trouba and sign a center would be to trade Stafford.

    Or dump Pavelec's salary.

If no one wants him via trade, buyout is 750k ish and I'm growing more and more intrigued by having him sent down to the moose. If someone picks him up off waivers he's off the books. If not, the jets have a capable backup plan waiting if hellebuyck or hutch have issues.

I updated the team to reflect the fact Pavalec wouldnt be traded. His salary is $4,750,000 this year so a team like Arizona or Florida won't jump on the contract. To be traded your probably looking at a team like Calgary fro Wideman for example but it will be other high cap hit contract coming back.
