Shouldn't need the 3rd IMO but I think this idea works.

Detroit could use a cheaper younger goalie to get them through this rebuild.

Blues could use a goalie to finish out the season and then go after Bob or Varlamov in the off season.

I think Allen+Walman would suffice from the Blues for Howard. The 3rd isn't needed imo.

I disagree. If we take Allen, that’s 3 more years of a $4M+ goalie, who quite frankly has not shown he is worth that money. I don’t see acquiring Allen as being a desirable asset in this trade, to me the return would have to be greater if the Wings were to take back Allen. A few weeks ago it was reported that the Wings prefer to resign Howard rather than trade him. So, to Dreger’s point, I would assume the price for Jimmy is high. Now, I think the Kyrou/Thomas chatter is absurd, but I think the Wings would rather resign Jimmy if the Blues won’t go higher than Allen + Walman.

Agreed. I see getting rid of Allen as a good thing as maybe we can sign a guy like Varlamov, or resign Howard if he plays well for the Blues.

Yeah you're right, Keep forgetting we're still early in the season, So pretty much 3 years of Allen not 2 years as i was thinking. In that case yeah the 3rd would be needed. But honestly i'd rather just keep Jimmy then take on Allen's contract. I've a feeling that Allen could be out of the league sooner rather then later.
