Description
2015 Draft
4. Mitchell Marner
8. Ivan Provorov
24. Oliver Kylington

Imo Kessel and Phaneuf two good players that have not been surrounded by any good players. Kessel's centre has been Tyler Bozak throughout his career in Toronto and he still put up the 4th most goals and 8th most points in the past 5 seasons. He's an elite talent and he deserves elite prospects coming back. Phaneuf is a top 4 defender who was thrust into a position where he could not perform to the best ability. This guy has played the hardest competition out of any player int the NHL in every situation with partners such as Franson, Holzer, Gunnarsson, and Kostka who are FAR from NHL quality defensemen.
Now to explain some of the trades into further detail. In the Bozak trade the Leafs get a 2nd round pick to help with their rebuilding process and Salomaki who is a gritty, hardworking player with offensive upside (mark hunter style player). The Preds need a younger centre in his prime because of aging centres such as Fischer, Ribeiro, and Cullen who are all 35+ years old.
New York Islanders make a low risk, high reward trade for Lupul. Lupul has proven before that he can be a quality top 6 forward however injury issues have hindered his play in the past 2 seasons. So the islanders only give up a 3rd and a 5th to get him.
Dallas trades for Phanuef and Bernier. Obviously Dallas's biggest problem was goaltending and defense as they have were bottom in the league in goals against per game. They receive a very capable top 4 defence man in dion phanuf at only 5.5 million salary which is very reasonable for a player of his calibre. The Stars also receive Bernier who has proven that he can be a starter playing well behind a terrible Maple Leafs team. The Leafs receive back Lehtonen to give the Stars cap relief. A 5.9 million dollar contract for the next 3 years for an aging and struggling goaltender is a very bad contract but the Leafs have the ability to pay it. The Leafs also receive Jack Campbell. Campbell a highly touted goaltender when he was drafted had a disappointed year by anyones standards. He had to be sent back to the ECHL at one point in the year, however, he did bounce back at the end. He's still young and could prove to be a good goaltender for the future. Finally, the Leafs receive Julius Honka, a very good skating defensemen as he is the key piece of this deal.

    1) Kessel will not accept a trade to Columbus
    2) Columbus already has forwards coming up and will not give up that return for Kessel, especially considering they are a grinding team, he does not match their style and will drive the coaching staff insane, take a look at Gaborik he struggled there and you could argue him and Kessel play a similar style.

Firstly, I know Columbus wasn't on Kessel's eight team list, however, Columbus is an up and coming team with an extremely passionate fanbase. Shanahan convinced Babcock to come to one of the worst organizations in the NHL, so I'm sure he has the ability to convince Kessel to go to a great franchise like Columbus.
Next: "and will not give up that return for Kessel, especially considering they are a grinding team." Yeah because the 168 pound Oliver Bjorkstrand is going to play a grinding style. Give me a break.
Also, Gaborik struggled because of injury issues and he's not the same player he once was. In 2012-13 he only played 12 games but scored 8 points which is not that bad. In 2013-14 he only played 22 games for them the whole year and had 14 points which isn't bad considering he was in and out of the lineup so much.
Columbus also has guys like Cam Atkinson and Marko Dano that don't played a grinding game either, so I'm sure an elite talent like Kessel can thrive in their system.

LMAO yeah but those guys still play a two way game, which neither Gaborik didn't do there and Kessel didn't do under one of the better defensive coaches in Carlyle, I don't see Columbus wanting to move the assets for this guy plain and simple, they have scorers coming up already.
